International Conference and ProFamy Training Workshop on
Household & Living Arrangement Projections and Applications
in Sustainable Development
May 9-11, 2019 in Beijing, China, Jointly organized by China Population and Development Research Center, Center for Healthy Aging and Development Study and the Raissun Institute for Advanced Studies at the National School of Development, Peking University, and Center for Households and Consumption Forecasting of Digit China Health.
Interested scholars, governmental officers and business analysts are welcome to participate in the conference and/or training workshop. No registration fees will be charged and conference will cover lodging and food costs in Beijing for registered/invited participants.

As part of the research activities of China Natural Science Foundation key project on healthy aging being carried out by the research group led by Prof. Yi Zeng at Peking University (PKU) and the “China National Health Safeguard Information System” being implemented at China Population and Development Research Center (CPDRC) and Digit China Health (DCH), researchers from PKU, CPDRC and DCH are jointly conducting projections and analyses on households, living arrangements, elderly disability trends, and the care needs/costs, using ProFamy method and software, for each of the 31 provinces of China.
RECENT PAST EVENTS:
At the “International Union for Scientific Studies of Population (IUSSP) 28th General Conference” side-meeting on “Family Households/Population Projections and Sustainable Development”, Jointly organized by China Population and Development Research Center (CPDRC) and Center for Healthy Aging and Development Study at National School of Development of Peking University, October 30, 2017, Cape Town, South Africa, the following scheduled lectures on ProFamy method/software and applications were presented:
-- Dr. Zhenglian Wang (CPDRC and Digit China Health) lectured on “The New Website-version of ProFamy Method/software and Applications”;
--Professor Tirza Aidar (Director of Demography Department of the University of Campinas, Brazil) lectured on Elderly population and their living arrangements in the most developed state of Brazil: past and future;
-- Associate Professor Qiushi Feng (Center for Families and Population Studies, National University of Singapore): Applications of ProFamy households projection method/software in housing and vehicles demands forecasting and county-level socioeconomic planning in the United States;
-- Professor Landy Sanchez (Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies; College of Mexico) Unfolding consumption: an application of household projections to estimate environmental implications of energy consumption.
